Heather Wilder, 14, Las Vegas, NV

Heather Wilder, is being recognized for her advocacy work on behalf of children who are in the foster care system.  No stranger to foster care herself, Wilder spent half her life in the foster system and is on a mission to raise awareness of the issues that foster children face, such as moving homes and being separated from siblings. 

In her quest to transform the system, Wilder has spoken before members of Congress, court-appointed special advocates and other child advocacy groups. Heather was honored as an Angel in Adoption - a prestigious award requiring nomination from a member of Congress.  She was the only child in their history to ever have been given the award.  Fully charged, Heather plans on continuing to keep moving on with her cause to raise awareness for kids that are facing the same issues she once faced.
