Lorraine Pace, 67, West Islip (Long Island) NY

Lorraine Pace is committed to raising awareness about breast cancer. In 1992 she formed the West Islip Breast Cancer Coalition and began to map the incidents of breast cancer in West Islip. In 1994 Lorraine founded Breast Cancer HELP (www.breastcancerhelpinc.org) and became a cancer education specialist. She is responsible for assisting the startup of over 25 coalitions in the United States and abroad. Lorraine visits local high schools, providing information about breast and testicular cancer to thousands of students.  In March 2003, Breast Cancer HELP opened The Long Island Cancer Help and Wellness Center increasing cancer awareness, promoting early detection and providing patients and survivors and their family members with needed support free of charge.  She has personally touched thousands of lives, increased awareness, promoted early detection and has never given up her desire to find a cause and a cure for this devastating disease.
